One plugin that you will see in every session and even on almost every channel is an EQ. Being able to EQ quickly and effectively is the difference between getting your project done on time and possibly losing a client. With the Renaissance Graphic EQ from Waves, you can intuitively create detailed EQs on the fly. Even though it is one of the cheapest EQs from Waves, it is one of the best options for every level of user.

Renaissance EQ Features

Here are some of the key features that make the REQ what it is.

Up to 6 EQ Bands –

The Renaissance EQ allows you to choose the option of 2, 4, or 6 bands in the plugin. This lets you have a less cluttered interface in which to work. If you start with 2 bands and decide that you do need more bands than you started with, you can simply switch the plugin for the 4 or 6 and the eq that you have already set will remain but you will be able to use the additional EQ bands.

Updated Interface –

Initially, the Renaissance EQ felt cluttered and had a dated feel when using it. With its new updated layout, it feels modern, sleek, and professional. While it is all about the skill behind the mixer, clients like to see professional-looking tools being used on their products. There is even a dark mode that can be easier on your eyes while staring at a screen for hours.

Detailed EQ Response –

The detailed way that the Renaissance EQ shows you the frequency response is impressive and extremely helpful. Never mix by sight but be willing to take advantage of a tool where you can. You can see what frequencies are specifically giving any problematic responses in real-time. But since you shouldn’t be mixing by sight, you can turn off the graphic frequency response with the push of a button.

EQ Band Controls –

You have 2 ways with which to control the curves and frequencies within the Renaissance EQ. You can control each band by clicking and dragging on the frequency spectrum or you can control each band individually with the controls at the bottom. If you want a more detailed way to control an individual and, you can change the layout at the bottom by switching the “View” option.

Compatibility

Although it is a simple plugin, Waves has basic requirements that are minimum across all plugins. There are some that require more but luckily the REQ only needs the bare minimum.

While it may seem that $79 is sort of steep, Waves is one of those companies that has sales regularly. Essentially it has become known that you are making a terrible decision if you pay full price for a Waves plugin. Whether you wait for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or any major holiday you will see discounts offered. And if you check on their social media platforms and follow them regularly you might just catch a random weekend sale.
